** Immigrants are allowed duty and Vat free importation.

Returning residents who purchased a vehicle overseas will pay import duty and Vat. Returning residents who originally exported the vehicle from South Africa may import it duty and Vat free provided they have the original export documents.

Left hand vehicles are no longer allowed to be imported in South Africa.

IMPORTANT NEW REGULATION:
Motor vehicles MUST be cleared (by the client) with the SABS prior to shipment to South Africa and this also applies to vehicles that have been exported from South Africa.
