Since the advent of democracy in South Africa, sport has proved to be a great unifier and the country successfully hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 1996 African Cup of Nations, the 1999 All Africa Games, the 2003 cricket World Cup, the Presidents Golf Cup in 2003, the 8th IAAF World Cup in Athletics in 1998 and the first Women’s World Cup of Golf in 2005.
More than 50% of paragliding records have been set in South Africa.
