Accompany or Join a Family Member (shorter than 3 months)
The visitors¡¯ visa shall be in respect of family members who are going with the spouse (or parents) who is (are) applying for a visa or permit. Or in respect of family members who will join the spouse (or parents) who is (are) already staying in SA on a visa/permit. A visa is issued under the same period and conditions as the main holder. Applicants who plan to take up studies in SA must be in possession of a study permit before taking up studies.
Invitation from the family member in SA with a copy of passport and a valid permit (in case of joining a permit holder);
To accompany or join a study permit holder, a South African medical cover has to be submitted to the nearest Regional Office of Home Affairs (i.e.a certificate from a South African medical aid, registered in terms of the South African laws). If the medical cover is not submitted with the application, a letter from the applicant undertaking to submit it within three months of arrival has to be submitted to the nearest Regional Office of Home Affairs;
In case of a minor child, letters from parents/guardian should be submitted; and
A return or onward ticket, proof of sufficient funds or cash deposit

Upon receipt of the visa, applicants are required to show the proof of a return or onward ticket.)
